About Babanango Valley Lodge
Situated in a secluded valley in the southern region of Babanango Game Reserve, the family friendly Valley Lodge is a luxurious homestead style lodge known for its safety, privacy, and exclusivity.
The lodge has incredible views over the Nsubeni River with its attendant rock formations of granite koppies, sandstone cliffs and quartzite ridges, stretching as far as the eye can see, to where the Nsubeni River meets the White Umfolozi River. Designed with families in mind, Valley Lodge is fully fenced and guests can relax on the viewing decks, enjoying a refreshing drink, while the children splash about in one of two sparkling rim-flow pools.
The main lodge area is light and spacious and comfortably furnished with large, glass stacking doors allowing panoramic views out over the indigenous, landscaped gardens and the valley beyond. The dining room and library are beautifully appointed and feature large fireplaces- perfect for chilly winter evenings.
The kids even have their own entertainment room to keep them occupied while the adults socialise with drinks before dinner.
Dinner is often served under the stars in the traditional outdoor boma, next to a crackling fire.Guests can enjoy delicious meals that include canape-style lunches, handcrafted cocktails, and four-course dinners which include traditional South African cuisine such as Bobotie, braais, potjiekos, milk tart, malva pudding and more.
Luxury accommodation available to guests includes nine tastefully designed, spacious two-sleeper suites with stunning views over the gardens and reserve. Two rooms have interleading doors to create a comfortable four-bed family unit. The exclusive honeymoon suite- which is slightly separate from the lodge for complete privacy- is the perfect retreat for newlyweds or those looking to indulge in some much needed peace and tranquility.
For family groups or small friend groups who are considering a more secluded accommodation option, the exclusive- use Hill Top House offers three beautifully designed bedrooms for up to six guests.
The comfortable and tastefully furnished Hill Top House is located a short distance away from Valley Lodge, overlooking the rolling valleys of the reserve, and has a private plunge pool and fully equipped kitchen should guests choose the self-catering option.
Activities available to guests include early morning and late afternoon game drives through the reserve's diverse landscape, where they may encounter the Big Five and other unique wildlife such as klipspringers, servals, and porcupine. Experienced guides take the guests out in open safari vehicles and share their wealth of knowledge and passion for the African bush with their guests. For those seeking a more active adventure, guided bush walks offer the chance to explore the reserve on foot and get up close with the smaller creatures and plants that make Babanango so special.
Those with an interest in history can take a guided battlefield tour, exploring the region's fascinating military history, while the more adventurous can take on the reserve's zip line adventures or coppermine tour. Guests with an interest in conservation can participate in wildlife monitoring with the reserve's team.
