Things to do at Finfoot
Bring your mountain bikes and enjoy a "game ride" through the nature reserve. Go for a paddle on the lake. Try a bush walk or game drive, enjoy a sunset barge cruise, or how about taking on the Segway safari if you’re up for a bit of fun?
Game drives and Bush walks
Finfoot is Not a Big 5 game reserve, you won’t come across most of the larger prowling predators that you would in the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, but there are a number of happy herbivores and fascinating creatures scattered throughout the reserve that are still unique and just as fascinating to see out in the bush.
This is what makes Finfoot so family friendly, families can go out and enjoy and get close to nature, without being in any serious danger.
One way to get close to nature is a guided nature walk after breakfast. You get an up-close perspective of the surrounding landscape and it is a great way to stretch your legs while staying at Finfoot Lake Reserve. You’ll learn a thing or two as our qualified walking guides teach you about the smaller creatures on the reserve as well as the medicinal uses of the local plants, herbs and trees
If you’re an avid birder (and even if you’re not), you will delight in sightings of African skimmers and Kingfishers as well as the Fish eagle and its unmistakable call.
Fishing
The Vaalkop dam is well known for it's fly and bait angling. It offers diverse species: Carp; Yellow; Kurper; Barbel. Guests can rent equipment directly from the lodge.
Segway (two wheeled) Safaris
One of the coolest ways to meander around the area without breaking a sweat, is to hop on one of the two-wheeled, self-balancing personal transporters. Segways are a great activity for the whole family. If you have not been on one before, don't worry, you will be ready go after a quick 15-minute training session that will see you setting off on your adventure with a qualified Segway guide.
Sunset Cruise
Enjoy an unforgettable sunset barge cruise.
Bring your sundowner drink of choice and cruise out over the water just before heading up to the restaurant for dinner. The scenery illuminated by the last light of the day makes for excellent photography.
