Idube is a safari lodge situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the heart of South Africa’s premier wildlife conservation area of the Greater Kruger Park. Game, including the Big 5, is viewed really close by from open Landrovers, or spotted on guided walks. All our experienced rangers and trackers are trained to give guests the best possible wild life experience.
The lodge has a total of 14 suites – 8 Safari Suites, 4 Linked Suites and 2 Makubela Suites all with private pools and deck areas. The suites are set amongst green lawns and shady trees.
Idube is dedicated to giving guests a genuine and informative experience in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Idube Game Reserve has a beautiful main pool, surrounded by stunning trees, with a view to the bush beyond. This is a great place to relax and bird watch, sipping an ice cold drink.
There are various options for guests to enjoy dining. The evening dinner held in the open air boma is always a favourite. A weekly bushbraai (barbecue), weather permitting is always an exciting and a different experience.
This may be moved to bush breakfasts in the cooler weather. Occasionally the venue has to be changed because of leopards on the roof of the bush boma – just too close to the kitchen area.
There is DSTV (direct broadcast satellite service) on the TV in the lounge, separate from the other entertainment areas, where guests can catch up with whichever programme is important to them.
Game drives at Idube Game Reserve
Well known for frequent leopard sightings, Idube Game Reserve also is home to all the Big 5. Excitement is added by the presence of wild dogs and cheetahs.
Idube has many different types of antelope and a large variety of smaller animals. Crocodiles travel for long distances to find new dams or move to the river, so it is always a surprise where they will be spotted.
And, of course, Idube Game Reserve is a bird lover’s paradise. One of the best things is how close guests actually get to the animals; that is a very special experience.
Idube Game Reserve frequently hosts honeymoon couples. One of the things they really enjoy is their private dinner, which may be held at one of the many romantic spots around the camp.
BushWalks
Guests at Idube can go for a short guided walk after breakfast, this gives them a chance to see some of the smaller animals, or on occasions, enjoy the thrill of coming across big game on foot – a very different experience.
There is a wonderful sense of excitement in being able to leave the lodge and stride out with your armed guide to see what you can find in the bush beyond.
PLEASE NOTE:
To go on a walking safari you must be at least 16 years old.
If you are older then 65, you will need a doctor’s certificate stating that you are in good health and fit. You could walk up to 5km a day over uneven terrain.

Makubela and Linked Suites

There are 2 Makubela suites, so named, after a leopard that once prowled the area. They have amazing views over the bushveld from their private decks and pool area (these pools are a little larger than those of the private Safari Suites). Elephants have been known to drink straight out of their swimming pools, an event causing much excitement even to the most jaded of traveller. The location of the suites away from the more public areas of the lodge, makes them especially tranquil and perfect for romance or a special occasion.
The suites have well-stocked mini bars, a coffee and tea station, bath, inside and outside showers, hairdryer, safe, air conditioning and wi-fi. Mosquitoes nets cover all windows and doors as well as the beds themselves.

The new Safari Suites at Idube offer generous space and a relaxed bushveld retreat, each measuring approximately 87 m².
4 are Linked Suites (like Safari Suites, but with a shared outside space useful for families and groups). Every suite opens onto a private deck with your own plunge pool and pool loungers, ideal for unwinding between game drives.
Flexible bedding options include king-size or twin beds, while the spacious bathroom features a bath and both indoor and outdoor showers.
Individually styled with African-inspired décor, the suites include modern comforts such as air-conditioning, minibar, Wi-Fi and a coffee station. There is a full bathroom indoors as well as indoor and outdoor showers, a bath, and separate WC. One Nyala Safari Suite is wheelchair accessible and located close to the main lodge. Guests can often enjoy wildlife sightings directly from their deck, with plains game and birdlife frequently passing by.
