Set in the heart of Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, adjacent to the famous Kruger National Park, RockFig Safari Lodge is well situated for forays into the bushveld for some of the best game viewing on the African continent.
Game drives are available morning and evening and if you are feeling a little more adventurous, walking safaris put you right on the ground, exploring the area under your own steam.
Accommodation at Rockfig Safari Lodge
RockFig Safari Lodge features just six chalet-type suites, making it ideal for exclusive-use bookings for families or for groups of friends.
Each suite featues both indoor and outdoor showers, a private verandah ideal for romantic candlelit dinners, a minibar and a bath. Specially commissioned watercolour paintings add notes of cool beauty, and – as with every space in the lodge – the aim is always to delight the guests who stay there.
Game Drives
Heading out on game drives from RockFig Safari Lodge gives guests the chance to get in tune with the Timbavati wilds, and see how the professional guides and trackers read the signs of the bush to anticipate the movements and behaviour of birds and animals for the best possible viewing and photographic opportunities.
RockFig’s custom-built game viewers are fully equipped, carrying – among other things – blankets, binoculars, reference books and preferred refreshments for guests.
Rockfig strives to have only four guests per shared vehicle when possible and feasible. This allows for easy access to camera equipment.
Family groups get their own private vehicle, which means that there’s no age restrictions, plus later starts and earlier finishes can easily be arranged so that the safari day is not too long for younger wildlife enthusiasts.
Every game drive is conducted by an experienced guide behind the wheel and a local tracker perched up front, where he can best spot tracks and signs.
