Pakamisa Private Game Reserve - in which the Pakamisa Lodge is situated, comprises a pristine malaria free wilderness area of some 2500 hectares.

The Arabian horses, originally born and bred in Andalusia, Spain, by Isabella von Stepski, renowned internationally as an Arabian expert. Isabella transported her entire stud from Spain to this special corner of Africa where these noble horses are thriving well. The first generation of the African-born Arabians are already galloping across the endless pastures. All horses are worked under saddle and the proud breeder is only to happy to arrange riding excursions with the entire herd for guests with equestrian interest.

Each of our rides offers incredible game viewing on horseback as we wind our way through the plains and challenging climbs of the Pakamisa Reserve hills. You may ride into a herd of impala, wildebeest and numerous warthogs, which will let you get very close before they trot off.
One of the professional guides will lead you through Pakamisa’s pristine wilderness areas, introduce you to African flora and fauna and share the excitement of a horse safari with you.
Riding plans are tailored to the needs of each group, from a half-hour beginner’s lesson to a daily ride of up to five hours with a break for a romantic bush breakfast or picnic.
Great importance is attached to the care of their horses, which are pure Arabians and are cross-bred with the native South African „Boerperd“.
Tack is kept in excellent condition and they use English and endurance saddles.
Every effort is made to match the guest to their perfect horse.
For safety reasons the groups are limited to seven riders.
Children are allowed on horse safaris from 10 years of age without prior arrangement. A weight limit of 90 kg per rider is set.
After a riding day, guests return to Pakamisa Lodge and enjoy comfortable accommodation, relax by the pool, sip a few drinks on the huge veranda or read a book on the private terrace of their luxury suite. For those visitors who wish to experience Pakamisa on two legs instead of four, there are numerous hikes and trails through the valleys and along the riverbanks, or they can climb Pakamisa Mountain for the most rewarding 360-degree panoramic views.
Overlooking the Mkuze Waterfall, the lodge features eight luxuriously appointed Thatched Chalets and one Safari Suite, accommodating eighteen guests in utmost comfort and style.
All these rooms have a breathtaking view of the river, bush and mountains. Private plunge-pools and an outside shower provide a wild but intimate touch alongside the gratifying luxury of the air-conditioned bedroom.
