Shaped like a traditional Zulu homestead, the 220m² suites have panoramic views of the surrounding game reserve. Each suite is a tribute to abundance, Africa-style - with a spacious lounge and majestic master bedroom and double-sided fireplace. The bathroom has a vanity, his-and-hers basins, egg-shaped bath, enclosed toilet as well as indoor and outdoor showers
The word zulu means ‘heaven’. The Zulu people, amaZulu, are ‘the people of heaven’ and their home, KwaZulu, is ‘the place of heaven’ on which this luxury lodge is located.
Stunning and very spacious villas (220 m2!) are wonderfully private and romantic spaces – you may find it difficult to prise yourself away from your villa to go up to the main lodge for meals or game drives!
The highlight for us has to be the gorgeous outside deck area at your villa – chill with a book or have a snooze on the huge circular day-bed in your sala or perhaps take a dip in your private plunge pool!
Thanda is perfect for families as kids are really made to feel welcome here – as members of the Bucks and Bugs Club, they’ll do a junior ranger’s course and the lodge goes out of its way to feed them a kid-friendly menu

Thanda Safari Lodge has 9 beautiful and spacious bush suites, each positioned to offer maximum privacy. Built to resemble the shape of a traditional Zulu homestead, the 220m² suites have panoramic views of the surrounding game reserve. Each suite features a private wooden deck and plunge pool as well as a thatched outdoor sala where you can enjoy some quiet time. Beds can be set up in the bedroom suites for an additional two children.
Thanda Safari Lodge is unfenced, and wild animals can roam between the suites and main lodge area. Each suite has a private unfenced plunge pool. Young children will need constant supervision
Children under 3 years will be free of charge and cots can be requested.
Children under 3 years are not allowed to dine in the boma, dining room or on the decks.
A private boma experience may be requested for families travelling with children under 3 or alternatively, room service dinner & a child minder can be arranged.
Children aged 2 - 16 years pay 50% of the adult sharing rate when sharing with 2 full paying adults.
