About Tuningi Safari Lodge
The wonders of the African bushveld with the splendours of five star luxury come togther at Tuningi Safari Lodge. Tuningi Safari Lodge overlooks an active waterhole that provides fantastic game viewing from a wooden deck which surrounds the reception and main lodge area.
If it is too much hard work standing up and looking at what the views of Madikwe have to offer, they can also be enjoyed from the rim flow pool and comfy loungers around it
The décor at Tuningi Safari Lodge is African-chic
The main lodge is thatched abd has a spacious lounge, a cosy dining room and a well-stocked bar and wine cellar. The areas are interlinked by a wooden pool deck and walkway that leads to a boma under an ancient sprawling Fig Tree, from which Tuningi derives its name.
The boma is often used for outdoor dinners around a blazing log fire, where you can see and hear the wildlife just meters away.
Photographers
Photographic enthusiasts will love the underground hide which overlooks the active waterhole. For those not concerened with shadows and f-stop settings, it is a pefectly acceptable sopt to just sit with your chosen tipple and enjoy the visiting wildlife. It is a common occurance for thirsty elephants to walk right past the windows, offering a unique perspective of their size.
Amazing images are waiting to be captured with a wide-angle lens, or you can get creative with low angle photos of animals such as giraffe, zebra, buffalo, kudu and impala drinking from the waterhole.
The rangers who are usually keen wildlife photographers themselves are often on hand for you to ask advice on the best ways to capture that perfect shot of the wildlife for you to share with friends and family (or who knows, National Geographic!
Other Entertainment
A satellite TV and Wi-Fi are provided in the main lounge to keep you connected to the “outside world”.
There is a library where you can choose one of the books on offer, or bring your own and settle down in the lounge for some quiet time or on one of the outside decks where you can often see game passing by.

babysitting services are also offered at an additional cost when the children are too young to go out on safari, or if parents feel their children are tired and need to sleep while they enjoy their dinner.
Cuisine at Tuningi
Every meal at Tuningi is the ultimate indulgence: varied, unique, beautifully presented and delicious. Meals are served in the cosy dining room or in the unique boma perfectly set under an old Fig Tree overlooking a very active waterhole.
After a morning of game viewing, guests are treated to a hearty brunch consisting of fruits, eggs, cheeses, and cereals – all freshly prepared and scrumptuous.
Lunch too is enjoyed under the giant Fig Tree, where guests can relax and often watch the animals at the waterhole
In the evenings lanterns and candles are lit and the mood goes from bush to baroque. Guests return from their game drive to be presented with a bush extravaganza dinner, prepared by Tuningi’s Executive Chef, in the boma with a blazing log fire to keep them warm.
The Boma is a truly memorable way to experience an evening under the African night sky. With no city lights close by, you will be truly amazed at how much there is to see in the night sky's.
