About Tangala Safari Camp
Overview
An intimate and personal experience awaits you at Tangala Safari Camp which is located in the heart of the world renowned Thornybush big 5 Game Reserve bordering the Greater Kruger National Park.
The camp boasts sweeping views overlooking an expansive and active waterhole, with the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range forming an impressive backdrop. With our eco-friendly camp, great hosting, comfortable accommodation and thrilling game drives, guests are assured an unforgettable experience.
The lodge is comfortable yet rustic and relies on solar energy and gas. The rooms are traditionally decorated and comprise of twin beds en-suite his and hers basins, showers and loo. There are also fans, mosquito nets and solar lighting. The main areas consist of an open plan interactive kitchen, boma, dining room. The lounges and decked swimming pool area overlook the active waterhole. Meals are served in either our dining room or on our deck overlooking the waterhole and between activities guests are welcome to relax by the pool sunbeds or lounge areas.
The lodge is fenced for your safety and our experienced team of rangers, trackers and hosts look forward to welcoming you and to interpret the sights and sounds of the bush for you.

Tangala is a mere 5 hours’ drive from Johannesburg.
Alternately guests can fly to the nearby Hoedspruit Airport which is a short 30 minutes’ drive from the camp.
There are flights directly to Hoedspruit Airport from both Johannesburg and Cape Town, and guests are transferred to the lodge from the airport making use of the local transfer companies in Hoedspruit.
Thornybush Tangala Accommodation
Accommodation comprises 4 chalets and 6 luxury tents, complete with covered patios, twin beds under mosquito nets and ensuite bathrooms which include his and her basins, shower and toilet. Tangala retains its authenticity and closeness to nature and runs “off the grid”, boasting solar power and natural gas to fuel the camp.
The camp itself is rustic and authentic with an informal and relaxed atmosphere, perfect to unwind and to get back in touch with nature

Terms and Conditions
- Unless otherwise stated, all rates listed are based on a minimum 2 night stay. Surcharges may apply for a 1 night booking.
- Special rates quoted may only apply to South African Residents. Discounted special rates for International Residents are available on request. The Lodge will require proof of residency on check in.
- A 3 night minimum stay is required over Peak Season periods
Children
- Children under 12 years cannot be accommodated at Tangala Safari Camp.
- Children over 12 years are charged adult rates.
