An exclusive lodge within the Mjejane Game Reserve – a private Big 5 Game Reserve incorporated into the Kruger National Park.
Mjejane Lodge is on the banks of the Crocodile River and surrounded by thousands of hectares of raw African wilderness. You are assured of a breath taking wildlife experience with animals regularly drinking from the river in front of the lodge. For bird lovers out there the lush riverine forest is home to a stunning variety of birdlife, including green pigeons.
The riverine forest is also home to the ever present but elusive leopard. There are large elephant breeding herds that frequent the area and it is not uncommon to wake up to the sound of a hippo only a few metres from your luxury bedroom deck or for huge herds (up to 500 in some cases) of buffalo to visit the river. These bring the large and small predators (and scavengers) with them, shadowing the herd.
The Mjejane reserve embraces a breathtaking 11km river frontage. There is a private bridge over the Crocodile River with direct access to the Kruger’s 7900km road network although this is currently closed. Game drives to Kruger enter the through the main gates. ( 2016~)
There are 17 rooms made up of 3 standard double rooms, 7 standard twin rooms and 7 luxury rooms.
All room types have en-suite bathrooms, hair dryers, tea & coffee stations, mini bar fridges and private patios overlooking the serene waters of the Crocodile River.
While the main lodge area and the rooms have the traditional game lodge look and feel with thatched roofs and natural stones and wood, it's structure is is more in the "Bush-Hotel" style.
It overlooks the overlooks the Crocodile River and has some of the best views a lodge (or hotel!) could hope for. The setup is geared towards game viewing from the comfort of the lodge area as the wildlife comes to the river to drink.
It is not uncommon to sit and watch elephant drink and play with their young calves down at the river.
Standard Rooms and Luxury Suits
The Standard rooms are located in the original part of the lodge and are more hotel style than Game Lodge set up. The newer Luxury Rooms which have been more recently built, are private stand-alone chalets away from the public areas and with the best river views.
The luxury rooms while a little more expensive have the best views and are probably worth the extra privacy.
All rooms have a tea and coffee station, a fridge, hairdryer, and insect repellent to keep mozzies at bay, as well as air-con
