About Mhondoro Safari Lodge

This 5 star private safari lodge features an underground waterhole hide which offers guests the opportunity of an eye-to-eye encounter with wildlife. The hide is connected to the main lodge by a tunnel. Magnificent views of the busy waterhole can also be enjoyed from the large viewing deck whereby elephants can often be seen helping themselves to water from the swimming pool.

Guests can savour this magical wildlife experience in the comfort of the elegant and sophisticated central dining room, bar, outdoor boma, gym, spa and wellness suite situated in or around the main game lodge and easily accessible from the chalets.

Within our luxurious amenities, families and little trekkers are made to feel welcome and our dedicated and experienced chefs deliver healthy home-made cuisine for foodies of all ages.

Mhondoro Safari Lodge Accommodation

Suites

At the main lodge five stylish, well appointed chalets are located along the ridge overlooking the waterhole and adjacent plains guarded by the Waterberg mountains in the distance.

There are two Deluxe Suites each accommodating 2 guests, the Honeymoon Suite with private plunge pool offering the perfect romantic getaway, the Executive Suite accommodating 4 guests in two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and the family suite with 2 bedrooms and shared bathroom, dining and living areas. Although in a separate building, guests at the Family Suite enjoy all facilities of the Main Lodge within short walking distance.

Each suite has its own elegant sense of style and décor, designed to make you feel pampered and spoiled. Large double sliding doors exit onto your private viewing sundeck where you can relax and observe the African wildlife pass by below you.

The en-suite bathrooms offer a choice of indoor shower, relaxation in a hippo sized bath or soothing yourself with steaming hot water in the secluded outdoor shower.

Mhondoro Villa

Perfectly suited for exclusive family or small group bookings of up to six guests the villa offers a magnificent master suite plus two additional en-suite bedrooms. All meals and selected local drinks, a private heated pool, a private gym and yoga room, a private game viewing safari vehicle with personal ranger, a private chef, a private butler and housekeeping staff are all included. Guests have the ultimate in luxury and privacy with access to the Main Lodge within short walking distance.

Mhondoro Safari Lodge Cuisine

Dining is a delightful culinary experience at Mhondoro. Guests can enjoy a full English breakfast at the lodge after their early morning game drive or a "bush breakfast" in the wild.

Picnics en route or lunches at the lodge are available for those arriving mid-day.

Afternoon tea is served shortly before your afternoon game drive. Get a taste of what the continent has to offer and indulge in our superb modern African cuisine with a four course dinner served at the lodge's dining room or an open air boma braai experience around a wood fire under the African skies.

Mhondoro Safari Lodge boasts a temperature controlled wine cellar fully stocked with the best South African wines.

Mhondoro Safari Lodge Activities

Guests are treated to snacks and a welcome drink at the Main Gate boma and are then transferred directly to the Lodge. En-route you may encounter your first sightings of the reserve's permanent residents: Impala, Warthog, Giraffe, Rhino, Kudu, Eland, Elephant and many others.

Early morning and afternoon game drives are available for guests in 4 wheel drive vehicles with professional private rangers who are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the wilderness. They can tell you everything about the flora and fauna of the African bush and entertain you with their anecdotes.

Sundowners and snacks are served on the evening game drives usually at a memorable vantage point as atop a mountain ridge where you can stand and stare at the majestic beauty around you. Hot beverages and snacks will warm you up on the early morning drives.

Little travellers can enjoy the swimming pool and the safe, secluded playground with its protective elephant fence, or explore the variety the bush has to offer during a Kiddies bush walk.
