A sanctuary of romance, seclusion and understated luxury, Kuname Safari Lodge is tucked away on the banks of the Kuvenyami River in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, where the African bush meets the dramatic backdrop of the Northern Drakensberg. Set within approximately 9,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, the lodge offers an intimate safari experience surrounded by lush riverine vegetation, open plains and some of the finest Big Five game viewing in the Greater Kruger region.

With just five luxury suites, Kuname has a wonderfully private and exclusive feel. Four Luxury Suites are tucked along the Kuvenyami River, each with its own private deck and views across the surrounding bush. The spacious Premier Suite, designed with romance and seclusion in mind, features a private garden, stone bath and outdoor shower overlooking the river. All suites are air-conditioned and equipped with en-suite facilities, indoor showers and outdoor bathing areas, as well as a minibar, coffee and tea facilities, hairdryer and safe.

Kuname is particularly suited to couples and honeymooners. The peaceful river setting, intimate size and secluded suites create an atmosphere where it is easy to escape the outside world and simply enjoy the bush together. The lodge also makes a beautiful setting for small, romantic weddings. Guests must be 12 years or older, helping to preserve the tranquil and intimate atmosphere.

Life at Kuname revolves around the rhythm of the African bush. Morning and afternoon game drives take guests deep into the reserve in search of lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo and the many other species that call Karongwe home. Experienced rangers and trackers read the bush like a living map, following tracks and spoor, listening for alarm calls and knowing when to stop and simply let the wilderness unfold around you. The open safari vehicles provide an unobstructed view and an immersive way to experience the wildlife.

The changing light of the day brings its own rewards. Early morning drives reveal a bush awakening from the night, while the warmer afternoon light brings a different energy to the reserve. As the sun begins to disappear behind the Drakensberg, guests can pause for sundowners in the bush, drink in hand, before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Back at Kuname, the pace is deliberately unhurried. Guests can relax beside the swimming pool, enjoy the peaceful river setting or indulge in a treatment at the lodge's spa.
