About Makalali Main Lodge
From the curved rim flow pool and sunbathing deck for lazing in the sunshine to the lovely lounge area where you can comfortably enjoy a coffee in the light, open-plan space, the Makalali main lodge brings and easy comfort to those travelling with children as well as those first time travellers to the bush. Tuck into delicious home-style African dishes in the dining area and bask in the drama of dinner by the firepit at the outdoor boma.
The twice-daily game drives out in the Greater Makalali Game Reserve are the perfect opportunity to try and tick off the Big Five, and from your room’s private viewing deck you can often spot spiral-horned nyala grazing nearby.
The Superior Rooms are designed for comfort with functional décor and a clean, contemporary feel. There’s an indoor and outdoor shower and the comfortable king-size beds face the private balcony. Every room overlooks the nearby watering hole, so you can spend as much of your free time as you like looking out for bonus wildlife.
Makalali Main Lodge is nestled within the Makalali Private Game Reserve, which is west of the Kruger National Park. The lodge consists of 30 air-conditioned en-suite superior rooms boasting luxurious interiors with classic leather & wood furnishings.
The lodge has a central dining & boma area where guests are able to indulge in an array of African cuisine under the superb African sky. The lounge at Makalali Main Lodge is designed in a striking way, featuring rustic structures which effortlessly redirect the outside elements indoors. The library makes for a lovely venue to read a book or magazine in between game drives. The spectacular rim flow swimming pool offers a refreshing swim during the warm summer months & is also a perfect spot to unwind. Apart from great game viewing & amazing culinary adventures one can enjoy a variety of soothing spa treatments.

HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
Discover the natural beauty of the bush with either a morning or afternoon ride for up to 10 guests per balloon. Please note these rides coincide with our game drives and takes place in Hoedspruit. GOLFING EXCURSIONS
Exciting golf excursions can be arranged in Phalaborwa. Please ask your camp manager to book on your behalf or bookings must be made direct with own transfer.
CHEETAH BREEDING
The cheetah breeding facility specializes in the captive breeding of cheetahs and other animals within Hoedspruit. Essential research is also being conducted on other endangered species. Guests must arrange their own transfers, Makalali reservations will assist with details.

Children's Rates
- When booked as inter-leading rooms for families children sharing with 2 full paying adults will be charged as follows:
Children under 6 years stay free of charge when sharing with 2 full paying adults.
Meals charged on consumption. - Children between the age of 6 - 11 years pay 50% of the adult sharing rate when sharing with 2 full paying adults.
- Children aged 12 years and over occupy their own room and are charged as adults.
Children's on Game Drives
Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on game drives.
