The re-envisioned train pays homage to the guests who explored the park nearly 100 years ago. It welcomes new explorers to celebrate the first visits to the iconic park back in the early 1920s, when the train would park overnight in the exact spot where Kruger Shalati is now positioned.
The train accommodation offers 31 rooms, consisting of 24 carriage rooms (ready from December 2020) and 7 bridge house rooms (to be completed in 2022). Each of these is designed to ensure breathtaking views and comfort.
The glass-walled, large train rooms allow for infinite views along the length of the majestic Sabie River while the style of the train is a celebration of African design in collaboration with local art and crafting skills. There is a strong influence from the natural world, each coach is created as a luxury den, adorned with organic furnishings, patterns and textures.
Aligned with the floor level of the train lies a deck with a pool, offering guests the unique experience of taking a dip while watching crocodiles, hippos and elephants in the Sabie River below.
All rooms come standard with the following:
24 Carriage Rooms, Double Rooms (26 sqm), 2-sleeper with King-size beds or 2x ¾ beds. Only guests 12 Years and Over. Kruger Shalati Bridge House is the newer addition to the Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge. It is positioned near the bridge, with breath-taking views over the majestic Sabie River, in the heart of big 5 territory.
There are 7 Bridge House rooms, all of which are tailored for immersive comfort. Bridge House accommodates 14 beds in the 7 "rooms", all offering guests a high-star rating luxury experience, and is accompanied by fine dining and other leisure experiences on site.The rooms come complete with King size beds, ensuite bathrooms with both bath & showers as well as separate enclosed toilet.
Children under 12 can only accommodated once the Bridge House rooms open and cannot stay in the Train on the Bridge rooms due to safety concerns.
