Kapama Buffalo Camp has the atmosphere of a traditional African Safari Camp. Situated in the greater Kruger National Park region, the reserve is home to the Big 5 and an abundance of other animals. Accommodation is in luxury tents which are on elevated wooden decks. These tents include electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, climate control and mini-bar. Camp facilities include thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire.
The camp’s exclusive suites are positioned on elevated platforms and surrounded by forest canopy with a seasonal river below. The suites are connected to each other and the main lodge by raised wooden walkways.
Expect a great mix of the old with roaring campfires, lantern light, whirring overhead fans and outdoor dining under the stars with modern comforts like air-conditioned suites, crisp white linen and all manner of in-suite comfort.

With just 10 tented suites the lodge is small and intimate but the Kapama River Lodge, located a short (game) drive away has one of the finest safari spas in Africa. With six sumptuous treatment rooms in a setting surrounded by stillness and sweeping bushveld, the spa is arranged around a generous central lap pool the spa evokes a sense of calm.
On the Romantic Deck, a bush bedroom is set up to accommodate a couple for the night with secure access and as many of the room comforts as are practically possible, mosquito net, mattress, linen, bedside table, toilet & bush vanity table.
Guests are given the option to either go out at sunset or after dinner depending on their personal preference. For those leaving at sunset a delicious dinner will be prepared on site, having the opportunity to spend the hours of dusk, relaxing, absorbing the beauty of the African bushveld with the Drakensberg mountains as backdrop as it transforms from day to night.
The Romantic Deck is completely private and secluded allowing the guest the unique experience of being completely alone in the wilderness - an experience that few places in the world can truly offer. After the ranger has taken the guests to the Romantic deck and ensured that they are perfectly safe he will return to the Lodge. As dawn breaks the guests will either be able to call the Lodge with their radio or await their collection by the Ranger at the pre-arranged time.
Located in the Kapama game reserve, the Camp Jabulani offers an Elephant Interaction activity every morning at 06:30. A ranger will take you to where the Elephants are in order to have a 90 minute interaction which will be presented by a qualified elephant handler.
Guests will have the opportunity to touch and feed these magnificent animals, while learning a little more about them as well as enjoying terrific photogrpahic possibilities.
This is only done in the very early hours of the mornings and guests are taken to the point of departure just before sunrise. After a safety briefing, you will takeoff and enjoy a scenic flight following the Drakensberg mountain range
The tented suites are set on stilted wooden decks, above an elevated riverbank. The tents have wooden floors, leather and dark wood finishes. They are air-conditioned, with complimentary wifi, a lounge area and a private deck. the ensuite rooms have both a shower and a bath with dressing gowns and a hair dryer supplied. You will also find a mini-bar, a Nespresso coffee machine and a lock-up safe.
Children under the age of 16 years not permitted at Kapama Buffalo Camp, unless exclusive use of the lodge is booked
There are no childrens rates available. Children over 16 will be accommodated in their own rooms and adult rates apply
